Aristocrat Leisure Limited

18 Mar 04 | Issue 147

Shares in this gaming machine maker are up 8% in the short time since last issue (Take Part Profits-$2.73). Strangely, two positive announcements followed the recent price rise, an event which we're sure the appropriate people are looking in to. The company recently signed a deal with the owner of The Sands Casino in Macau for 127 machines and also some linked jackpot technology. The company made much of the 'strategic' importance of the deal but the dollar value wasn't mentioned. In other news, Aristocrat received approvals for new products in three large American markets; Nevada, Mississippi and New Jersey. Again, management made a bit of a splash about it but such events are really part of Aristocrat's regular operations. Our view remains unchanged, that is, we recommend those who've owned the stock for a while reduce their holdings by half at around these prices. Although you should consider your tax position before taking action. TAKE PART PROFITS.
